This is a footnote to the recent ‘special’ In Search of Sussex presentation which follows Arthur Stanley Cooke’s footsteps as presented in his book Off The Beaten Track published in 1910. While Arthur doesn’t walk this way in the book, I am sure he would have taken this route on other occasions.
I am back in Hangleton, in Hove, East Sussex, up at the 11th Century church there, St Helen’s, and I am taking the old route to the top of Round Hill, south of Devil’s Dyke in search of the Bronze Age burial mound. I also take a walk along the Devil’s Dyke railway track.
