Young, enthusiast bell ringer, Ollie Watson, insisted I come and have a look at some of the local churches to where he lives in East Sussex. So today I am in the tiny hamlet of Hammerwood, 3 miles from East Grinstead where in the late 19th century a new church was built. Unfortunately, due the recent virus outbreak, the church is locked, but even so, it is also ‘closed’ and no longer has a parish.
