Kingston, near Lewes in East Sussex dates back to the Domesday book, and probably before. It nestles at the foot of a steep coombe of the South Downs with the oldest part of the village snuggled along The Street that adjoins the 13th Century Church. A rural district with the river Ouse not too far away there are plenty of signs of the heyday of the farming all around.
I take a circular walk around the village to enjoy the fabulous flint cottages.
