It is hard to believe that at one time there were several plans to build many houses on the top of the South Downs. Harder to conceive is that was a scheme to build a massive motor track on the Downs north of Foredown Hill. Luckily these ideas didn’t come to anything, but they very nearly did. I am walking in the beautiful landscape exploring the ridiculous notions.
