The Quest For England – In Which I Discover the Magic of the Daddy Long Legs Railway

Dumpman is back! Today I have taken a trip to Brighton Beach at the crack of Dawn to meet up with Chris Bedford, AKA, Dumpman. We are exploring the remnants of the Magnus Volk’s electric ‘Daddy Long Legs’ railway – half train, half boat that ran at the end of the 19th Century.
Brighton and Rottingdean Seashore Electric Railway opened 28 November 1896, but was nearly destroyed by a storm the night of 4 December. Volk immediately set to rebuilding the railway including the Pioneer, which had been knocked on its side, and it reopened in July 1897.

Dumpman explore disused railways and sells wonderful DVDs of his adventures. Check out his catalogue on his website here: https://dumpman.co.uk/
