I am dressed for rain that doesn’t appear, or rather, didn’t appear until I got home. I have once again returned to the South Downs close to Sompting, in West Sussex, near to where I live, to continue my exploration of a short track I discovered on my last visit. Spring is advancing at pace, even since the last time I was here. It still amazes me that within minutes, once up on the beautiful chalky hills, you can escape the nearby urban environment so completely and be at peace with the world. One advantage of the Covid19 lockdown is escaping the usual drone of the aeroplanes that in normal times occupy the sky.
