In Search of Sussex – In Which I Start a Walk From Hangleton to Edburton

Part One of a walk following in the footsteps of Arthur Stanley Cooke, from his book, Off The Beaten Track (Chapter 4). This time I start at Portslade Station near Hove in East Sussex and head to Hangleton Place, (now Hangleton Manor) in Hangleton. I explore the meadow before the church, and later St Helen’s itself, all that is left of the ancient village of Hangleton.
