In Search of Sussex – In Which I Go To Devil’s Dyke

This is Part Two of my Hangleton to Edburton walk. Chapter 4 from Off The Beaten Track by Arthur Stanley Cooke, that I am following in my In Search for Sussex series.

In this episode I have left Hangleton behind and I’m climbing the Sussex South Downs to Devil’s Dyke, a well known beauty spot where there are the remains of the Iron Age Hillfort. During the late Victorian era fairground amusements adorned the top enticing day trippers to visit in large numbers, many on the Dyke Railway.
