Frances and Her Greyfriars Dexters

Today I meet up with Frances Sedgwick who keeps wonderful Dexter cattle at the Steyning Downland Scheme, close to the rifle range.

Dexter cattle are a breed of cattle originating in Ireland. The smallest of the European cattle breeds, they are about half the size of a traditional Hereford and about one-third the size of a Holstein Friesian milking cow.

Frances in heavily into sustainable farming, but also has a special reason for keeping the cows. In this episode, we meet Frances and here ‘girls’. I intend to return to find out more about the breed and how they are managed and looked after. We hope you enjoy the video.
