I am clambering around the wonderful Southdowns on Ditchling Down, in East Sussex. I want to show off the fabulous northern escapements and coombes of the Downs above the village of Ditchling.
Very often when we look at the Southdowns from the Sussex Weald we see the range of undulating hills in silhouette because the sun is generally behind them.
Along this northern face are many interesting features, including chalk mines, tumulus and curious channels leading down.
