Dowding of Fighter Command Prepares to Defend Britian 1936-1940

Eighty years ago one man was preparing to defend Britain from German invasion. It was pretty clear that an air battle would ensue and Air Chef Marshal Hugh Dowding took over Fighter Command at its formation in 1936 and brought it up to-date with state of the aircraft and communications systems. It is generally accepted that with out Dowding’s great foresight and planning, this country would never had won the Battle of Britain.

I do not pretend to be an expert. I am fascinated by this period in history and simply point out that one life time ago we, ordinary civilians of Britain, were facing one of the biggest terrors of the 20th century.
