John Marshall – Painter of Cows

John Marshall is renown world wide for his paintings of cows. It started as a joke twenty five years ago when he tried avoiding contributing art for a gallery exhibition. John used to sketch charcoal nudes. To exempt himself from the gallery he declared that he no longer painted nudes, but he was concentrating on painting cows. This off-the-cuff statement changed his career and nowadays John can be found in an old dairy nestling in the in the South Downs painting his magnificent cows on large canvasses.

I had to meet him!
