Exploring an Oak and Hazel Coppiced Woodland – Part Two

This is the second part of my walk with Richard Verrall. We are continuing to explore oak and hazel coppiced woodland near Dial Post in West Sussex. Richard managed the woodland in the traditional way, thinning trees and opening the underwood for new saplings and woodland plants to thrive.

The Verralls are an old Sussex family, tracing their lineage back for generations. It is a pleasure to talk to such an experienced farmer.
